Dr. Yuthika Girme
(she/her)
Dr. Yuthika Girme is an Associate Professor and the Lab Director for the SECURE Lab at Simon Fraser University. Dr. Girme completed her PhD at the University of Auckland in 2015. Her research program broadly assesses when and for whom intimate relationships and singlehood foster greater wellbeing.
Muskaan Sardana
Muskaan is an international student from India in her third year of undergraduate studies in Psychology at Simon Fraser University. Her research interests focus on attachment, self-expansion, mindfulness and gender norms.
Manha Ali (she/her)
Manha is a third-year undergraduate student at Simon Fraser University, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Counselling. Serving as the Social Media Manager for the SECURE Lab she is passionate about digital outreach challenging social stigmas and making psychological research accessible to the public. Her academic interests include adult attachment, interpersonal relationship dynamics, and looking at singlehood through a well-being lens. In her free time, you can find her sketching, writing poetry, or recharging on long nature walks.
GRADUATE STUDENTS
Brittany Dennett
Brittany is a PhD student in the SECURE Lab. She completed her undergraduate degree and Masters degree at Simon Fraser University in Psychology. Her research interests are focused on people who are single, relationship formation, and wellbeing. Brittany enjoys reading, and has a plant named Oliver.
Hannah Dupuis
Hannah is a PhD student in the SECURE Lab. She completed her Bachelor of Arts with Honours at the University of Victoria and her Masters in Psychology at Simon Fraser University. Her research focuses on the experiences of singlehood, gender, and friendship. When Hannah is not in the lab, she can be found at the beach with a good book or spending time with friends.
Julia Suciu
Julia Suciu (she/her) is a PhD student in the SECURE Lab. Julia completed her Bachelor's and Masters of Science in Psychology at Arizona State University in Phoenix, AZ, USA. Her research interests surround intercultural relations, acculturation, immigration, close relationships, and psychological well-being. Julia enjoys hiking and spending time with her two kittens, Flora and Felix.
Victoria Mendonca
Victoria is currently an MA student in the SECURE Lab. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Psychology at the University of Guelph in 2023 and is excited to launch her graduate school career. Victoria is eager to continue researching romantic relationships, adult attachment styles, and other social dynamics that influence individuals, couples, and well-being experiences.
Burdett Kwon
Burdett is an MA student in the SECURE Lab. He completed his BA in Psychology at Simon Fraser University. His research interests include singlehood, protective factors for well-being, and cultural psychology. Outside the lab, he's usually found following the trail of his cat’s (Ara) fur.
