Dr. Yuthika Girme
(she/her)

Dr. Yuthika Girme is an Associate Professor and the Lab Director for the SECURE Lab at Simon Fraser University. Dr. Girme completed her PhD at the University of Auckland in 2015. Her research program broadly assesses when and for whom intimate relationships and singlehood foster greater wellbeing.

Burdett Kwon

Burdett is the Lab Manager in the SECURE Lab and completed his undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University in Psychology. His research interests are primarily focused on cultural psychology and how western psychological constructs such as morality, meaning, and the self vary across different cultures.

Erin Koch

Erin recently completed her studies at Simon Fraser University in December 2023, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Minor in Cognitive Science. In March 2023, she completed her Associate Certificate in User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Design at British Columbia Institute of Technology. Her current goal is to become a UX Designer, which combines her interests in psychology and digital design. She loves to convey the SECURE Lab's research to a broader audience!

Jadeyn Trasolini

Jadeyn completed her undergraduate studies at SFU in December 2023, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology complemented by an extended minor in Linguistics and a Speech Science certificate. Her future goal is to pursue a master’s degree in Speech Language pathology. She is excited to share the SECURE Lab’s research on social media!

GRADUATE STUDENTS

Brittany Dennett

Brittany is a PhD student in the SECURE Lab. She completed her undergraduate degree and Masters degree at Simon Fraser University in Psychology. Her research interests are focused on people who are single, relationship formation, and wellbeing. Brittany enjoys reading, and has a plant named Oliver.

Hannah Dupuis

Hannah is a PhD student in the SECURE Lab. She completed her Bachelor of Arts with Honours at the University of Victoria and her Masters in Psychology at Simon Fraser University. Her research focuses on the experiences of singlehood, gender, and friendship. When Hannah is not in the lab, she can be found at the beach with a good book or spending time with friends.

Victoria Mendonca

Victoria is currently an MA student in the SECURE Lab. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Psychology at the University of Guelph in 2023 and is excited to launch her graduate school career. Victoria is eager to continue researching romantic relationships, adult attachment styles, and other social dynamics that influence individuals, couples, and well-being experiences.
